iPhone Delivers Up to Eight Hours of Talk Time

The news today is that the much expected iPhone will have 8 hours talk time which is twice the talk time claimed by Nokia N95, Blackberry Curve 8300 and Palm Treo 750. In the comparison table (check link above) Apple shows a very good iPhone battery life for Internet use (6 hours), Video playback (7 hours) and Audiow playback (24 hours ! ). Given the fact that iPhone comes with non-replaceable by the user battery - this is very good news. It may even convince some potential business users, like me, that do not like embedded battery concept to give a try.

iPhone will be available in the US on June 29, 2007 in a 4GB model for $499 (US) and an 8GB model for $599 (US), and will work with either a PC or Mac®. iPhone will be sold in the US through Apple’s retail and online stores, and through AT&T’s select retail stores.

Here is one review that came out today: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/19 444948/site/newsweek/page/0/ This single sentence from the review made me laugh: "As it did with MP3 players, Apple has made even its most stylish competitors [in the phone business] look like Soviet-issue contraptions. " This is actually true. ;-) Cheers.

"И дали така бързо и добре както го рекламират по телевизията - ще се разбере горе-долу след една седмица. " It worked very fast in a parking lot in Cupertino. :-) The Web-sites loaded seemingly as fast as if I were at home on ADSL (3GB downstream). As a way of comparison I had an Ericson-Sony mobile phone that offered internet browsing and the experience was worse than pathetic. "What I am getting from the press, blogs and internet forums is: nobody cares." This is what I get from the media outlets (as described by you) too. The reason, IMO, is that the iPhone has a really cool interface. The only question that I have is wether this interface would work for most of the users -- it is really one of those things that you have to see for yourself and decide if it is going to work for you or not. I don't think that any reviewer can tell you the "truth" about it. As a side note: the Apple "feel and look" is not an invented phenomena, it is really unique when compared to the competition. It is, however, a completely different question as to whether people like it or not. In a sense, the Apple feel, is simply more functional and user-friendly when compared to other interfaces (this can be argued ad-infinitum). From my own experience Apple offers a better approach to the user interface when compared to any other computer/software manufacturer -- this is not necessarily translated into a better "mobile phone' interface or larger user base, it is just an opinion. The iPhone does a few things very well and that is -- "calling people" and "talking to people" ... the rest is just superfluous, IMO. regards.

iPhone еуфорията тук в Щатите е голяма. Да, не е скайпоподобно и ще работи по мобилната мрежа на AT&T отначало. И дали така бързо и добре както го рекламират по телевизията - ще се разбере горе-долу след една седмица. Следващият понеделник ще се появят първите коментари на пресата за iPhone който ще е бил вече 2 дена в ръцете на първите потребители. На 29 юни в петък след 18:00 най-големите мераклий ще могат да го купят от АТ&Т магазините. And who knows - everything is about meeting the high expectations of the eager and existing base of Apple-fan/iPod users. And those expectations are really high at this point - just turn-on your TV or take a look at the press. I know the iPhone will be sold locked with 2-year AT&T contract but how about unlocking and SIM card changing in case of traveling overseas. What I am getting from the press, blogs and internet forums is: nobody cares. At this point, as it seems, it is all about the Apple feel and look, interface, and internet performance -and the internet browsing shown in the 5-second TV ads is just impressive. But we'll see if and how iPhone delivers all this - just in 5 days:}

"Добре де, каква е файдата от тоя Айфоун? Говориш на нещо скайпоподобно през WiMax-a ли?" The iPhone is just a mobile (cell) phone. It doesn't use the Web, VoIP (voice over IP) for the communication, i.e. it is not like Skype. However this particular feature (VoIP) may come later since the hardware has enough power to pull it off -- it is only the connection to internet that needs to be faster and this is not an easy thing to ensure. The biggest difference between the iPhone and any other phone is the user interface and consequently the overall feel of the device. Some people may find this sufficient to purchase it, but the best way to think about it is the way the iPod came about -- there were hundreds of digital music players at the time (5 years ago) and then came the iPod, the rest is history. The first striking thing about this phone is that it has no buttons on it's surface (well, it has just one, but it is almost as if it doesn't exist) -- I have never seen a mobile phone that isn't covered with a myriad of little click-ity, click things. The second thing is the presentation of the user interface -- you just have to see it. It is very (VERY) cool and functional. None of these things guarantee success for the iPhone, but they certainly make it unique in the market place. Regards.

The iPhone is crazy good. It is quite different in person when compared to what you see on TV or Web. I'm not sure how it will compare to other phones on a pure "features list" chart, but from a simple user standpoint there isn't anything quite like it. Apple might be able to pull off another 'iPod' type of success while at the same time increasing their computer user base. It is interesting to observe how folks at Apple are able to maintain focus while delivering vastly different products (hardware and software). Regards.
